Netherlands

Because of Belgium’s unreliable rail system, we arrived much later than anticipated.

It’s freezing here in Amsterdam. And rainy.

If I were to describe Amsterdam, I feel the best depiction of it would be an urban Disneyland meets college campus kind of look. It doesn’t feel like a place to live so much as it does a tourist destination. Everything is placed in neatly-aligned Renaissance buildings and townhouses, with trams running through all the neighborhoods picking up and dropping people off, and there are more bicyclists than there are drivers. I don’t know, something about this place just feels really artificial.

We were greeted at the place we are staying at by an unexpected visitor. Meet Rocky. He’s the reason why it was so much more difficult for me to leave the house every day. There’s also two cats who are cute, but like all other cats in the world, not as people-friendly.
